We will pick you up at your Riad or your hotel in Fes around 8:00 a.m. We leave for Midelt through the Mountains and the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas. We pass by Ifrane, the charming ski resort of Michlifin and Azrou: the little Switzerland of Morocco. This region is an important handicraft centre specialising in the work of cedar wood, carpets and textiles. We arrive in Midelt for lunch. In the afternoon we will drive to Erfoud and on into the desert. We will go to a hotel in Merzouga where you can prepare for the camel trikking into the beautiful Erg Chebbi Dunes, there you will spend the evening in a bivouac camp and enjoy a Berber dinner, some local music around the camp fire and sleep in traditional Nomad camel hair tent.
We always recommend that you wake up early enough to witness the sunrise over the dunes and enjoy the opportunity to get some special photos. We return by camels to the hotel for breakfast where you can also take a shower. Then we start for Erfoud which is known for its incredible fossils preparation and workshops. Our road takes us through spectacular palm tree groves. We stop for lunch. After relaxing a little we take a short walk in the magnificent Todra Gorges. In the afternoon we continue to our hotel in Boumalne Dades where we spend the night.
After breakfast we will explore dades Gorges before departing to Marrakech. We will follow the Dades Valley through Kelaat M´gouna, the Valley of the Roses and the route of a thousand Kasbahs. This is a fantastic stretch of the route, lush valleys full of fragrant Damascus roses which are harvested in June for production into oils and beauty products sought the world over. Magnificent kasbahs line the road in regal majesty, some in ruins, but others beautifully restored. We will cross mivies capital Ouarzazate and stop for lunch in Ait Benhaddou village. We will have time to explore the famous protected UNESCO world heritage site which is the location of many blockbuster movies like the Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, Prince of Persia, Kingdom of Heaven, The Mummy and many more. Leaving this fortress behind us, we will cross the High Atlas Mountains over the pass of Tizi´n´Tichka at 2260 metres and travel down into the plains where we will reach Marrakech in the late afternoon or evening.
